The Colorado Rockies got off the schneid, finally getting a win in the desert to cap off the four-game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks. For the second time in less that two weeks, they also won 6-4 in a game where both De La Rosas pitched for their respective clubs.
Troy Tulowitzki extended his MLB leading hit streak to 18 games with a three-run homer in the first to put the Rockies up early. Tulowitzki finished the game going 2-5 with 3 RBI on that home run. Carlos Gonzalez also brought the pop, adding a two-run shot in the 6th inning to put the Rockies up 6-1 at the time.
Jorge De La Rosa pitched 6 innings, allowing two earned runs while recording six strike outs.
“I finally get my first win here; everybody was telling me about it,” said De La Rosa, who had yet to record a win in nine attempts starting in Arizona with an 0-7 record. “It felt good to finally get my first win here.”
Third baseman Nolan Arenado was given the day off for rest.
The Rockies have a day off on Monday before returning home to face the Los Angeles Angels at Coors Field.
