As the Broncos’ failed season takes its final turn, head coach Vance Joseph and some of his players are likely playing in their final game together. “It’s bittersweet for our football team,” Joseph said. “Every day you have with these guys is a special time.”
While the Broncos will not experience the playoffs in 2017, Joseph says that his players have stayed focused, even after being eliminated for weeks, and that they’re closer to contention than many observers think. “It’s been a tough year, but our players have stayed in it… everyone’s been engaged. Everyone’s been working hard… I think we’re close. We’re a couple pieces away.”
Denver is getting ready for the final game of the year against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. Paxton Lynch will start at quarterback for the Broncos, and rookie signal-caller Patrick Mahomes II will take the snaps for the Chiefs.
