The Broncos got their revenge on the Chargers this Sunday with a 27-19 victory. During the game, the offense surprisingly threw the ball a lot more then anticipated and was able to capitalize on some short runs into the end zone.
Virgil Green made his way back into the stat sheet after returning from a calf injury with four catches for 55 yards. His longest of the day was a 31-yard reception.
“It felt great to make some plays down field,” Green told Eric Goodman and Les Shapiro of Afternoon Drive on Mile High Sports Radio. “To help my team in that aspect was a great feeling.”
Even though his return felt great and Denver got the win against their division rival, Green still feels there are things to work on in practice.
“It makes you feel better that we went out there and did some things better offensively, but at the same time we demand a lot more from ourselves in the offensive room,” Green said. “We’ve got to go out there and contribute to this team in a better fashion.”
The Broncos studied what the Chargers defense did against the Falcons in Week7, but sometimes studying film doesn’t help show them everything.
“We got a lot of looks that we hadn’t seen in film study,” Green said. “They did some things similar to what they did against Atlanta, but they switched it up in certain ways. Like I have said before, we have to be ready for those un-scouted looks and be able to capitalize on them.”
The trade deadline is today, Nov. 1st, and the team feels they have what they need for another playoff push. But if John Elway decides to make a trade, Green and his teammates trust him.
“I think we have what we need, but at the end of the day, Elway, that’s his job to make that decision,” Green said. “He has done a great job of putting a team together in the past. If Mr. Elway wants to make some moves that’s up to him. He is the captain of the ship and we just help facilitate things.”
