You may have noticed that, despite a superstar three-sack performance, Von Miller didn’t perform a single sack dance on Sunday. An odd move for a guy who’s made a career out of thrashing quarterbacks and thrusting hips.
Why? Well, because sacking a quarterback can be hard work, and sometimes you just want to soak it in.
“Sometimes you work so hard to get to the quarterback — you go through two or three guys — that when you get there all you want to do is raise your fist,” Miller told Troy Renck of Denver7. “I haven’t stopped dancing. It just didn’t happen this time.”
Luckily, we should expect a lot more dancing down the line.
Through 74 career games, Von Miller has 64 career tackles, and that’s not counting the five sacks he had during last year’s playoffs. Through two games this season, Miller’s four sacks lead the NFL and put him on pace for 32 on the year — a league record.
Let’s hope he has the opportunity to boogie down a few more times next Sunday in Cincinnati.
