Von Miller’s Instagram post incites “Cropgate”

Whether he meant to or not, Von Miller has got Broncos Country riled up, as we’re now left asking ourselves, “Why would he crop John Elway out of the picture?”

In case you don’t know what I’m talking about, let me explain …

Yesterday, DeMarcus Ware posted this perfectly benign photo on his Instagram account, showing (from left to right) Gary Kubiak, Ware, Miller, Peyton Manning and John Elway in front of the White House during their trip to meet President Obama.

A few hours later, Miller reposted the photo, with one notable difference …

Sorry Elway. It looks like you got cut.

But why? Is Von proving a point? Is he taking a dig at the man who’s keeping him from a historic contract?

Who knows? And who cares?

While these negotiations have had the potential to go off the rails from day one, nobody has stayed more positive than Von Miller. At every turn, he’s reiterated that he plans on being a Denver Bronco for the long term and that he holds no grudges against the organization for the franchise tag or their “lowball” offer.

And if we’re going to dive into Von’s social media history — an interesting place to be — then it’s only fair that we acknowledge this retweet of his, too.

Obviously, we all want Miller locked up long term, and any hint to the contrary is concerning, but this is all just white noise.

Unless we come to and pass the July 15 deadline without a contract for Von, the assumption should be that something will get done. Until then, let’s try not to get to stressed out, okay?
