Mile High Sports’ Ryan Greene and Jeff Morton take you on a journey through a day in a life of Denver Nuggets coverage. Get a backstage pass to what goes on behind the scenes with the Nuggets as well as some other glimpses, including some of the pregame rituals we in the media go through before each and every home game.
This was the Nuggets’ last preseason game. It featured the Oklahoma City Thunder and their star-studded roster featuring Russell Westbrook, Paul George and the newly acquired Carmelo Anthony. There’s something special about an NBA team full of stars and it’s something that can’t be duplicated in any other league. The personal contact you get from seeing the stars is special, even to those of us who cover the NBA.
Of note to the people of Denver is Anthony. “Melo” was in Denver for 7 1/2 seasons and still knows a great number of the Pepsi Center staff. He made it a point to say hi to everyone of the people he knew along the way into and out of the arena. In particular Nuggets’ play-by-play and color analysts Chris Marlowe and Scott Hastings (as you will see in the video). There’s a whiff of nostalgia every time Anthony comes back through town and plays the Nuggets.
This is a rare, behind-the-scenes glimpse into what goes on before and after the game. The coach’s media scrum, the baseline plays, the post-game reaction.
