What does Nikola Jokic actually want?

Throughout all of the Denver Nuggets turmoil, Nikola Jokic has been a mainstay.

The Nuggets fired Michael Malone and Calvin Booth yesterday in a shocking move but perhaps a necessary one. Denver’s chances of success were low heading into the 2025 NBA Playoffs, and while they are still low, perhaps the team can find some more energy and revitalization in the coming days.

Jokic has been a rock for Denver to rely upon, and while his defensive effort has waned, it’s in large part because of how much he’s done on the offensive end to keep the Nuggets afloat in so many games. That’s an untenable situation for Jokic specifically, and it’s fair to wonder what he would like in an ideal world as the Nuggets try to balance finishing out the 2025 season and planning for the future.

How the Nuggets handle these next few weeks will determine, in large part, the way they go for the next several years.

Ryan breaks down some of the stories about the Michael Malone and Calvin Booth firings and how things got to this point. He goes over the next three games before asking simply: what does Nikola Jokic want through all of this?
