The Denver Broncos concluded their final practice ahead of Sunday’s game against the New York Jets on Friday at the UCHealth Training Center. Will quarterback Russell Wilson play against Robert Saleh’s defense on Sunday?
Denver Broncos Injury Report for Sunday vs. New York Jets
Will Russell Wilson play on Sunday against the New York Jets who are off to a 4-2 start on the season? That’s the $250 million question. After suffering a hamstring injury late in Monday’s loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, Wilson was limited Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett designated Wilson’s status for Sunday as questionable. If Wilson plays, Hackett noted that the offense can adjust to certain things despite his injury.
“We can always adjust anything to make sure we’ve got the best scenario out there,” Hackett said following Friday’s practice. “We just want to make sure he can protect himself, I think that’s the most important thing.”
Offensive guard Quinn Meinerz has been battling a foot issue all week long. He did not participate in Wednesday’s practice but returned on a limited basis on Thursday and Friday. He is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Jets according to Hackett.
Josey Jewell, who has been dealing with a knee sprain, returned to practice this week in a limited capacity on Thursday and Friday. His status for Sunday is also deemed questionable. If Jewell is unable to play, the Broncos have been very pleased with Alex Singleton who has stepped in and played at a high level.
Broncos defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero praised Singleton this week for his impact stepping in for Jewell.
“Yeah—well, no,” Evero said regarding whether or not he was surprised by Singleton’s 21-tackle performance against the Chargers.” “We played a lot of plays, that’s part of it. He just—he’s a ball magnet. During the course of the game, you don’t realize how much production he’s having, and then you go back and look at the box score and look at the film. It’s a credit to him and it’s no surprise just based on who he is. Like I said, he has a nose for the ball. He can go find it, and he can tackle and get people down.”
Defensive lineman D.J. Jones, another key player, is questionable for Sunday’s game against Zach Wilson, Breece Hall, and the Jets offense. Jones suffered an ankle injury in Monday’s loss to the Chargers and did not participate on Wednesday, but returned to practice on a limited basis as well on Thursday and Friday.
Offensive tackle Billy Turner will play in Sunday’s game as he continues to acclimate himself inside of the offense after coming back from off-season knee surgery. Broncos offensive coordinator Justin Outten noted that Denver’s offensive line would be the same unit that finished Monday’s game against the Chargers which is subject to change.
