The high-flying, death-defying, can’t-believe-I-just-saw-that athletes of X Games are back. From Jan. 27-29, they’ll once again gather in Aspen for what has become a staple of the Colorado winter sports calendar. The first Winter X Games was held in 1997 at California’s Big Bear Lake, but has since found a consistent home in Colorado with the Centennial State hosting the event 23 times, including 21 consecutive events in Aspen. This year will mark the state’s 24th Winter X Games as well as Aspen’s 22nd straight.
Per usual, Winter X Games 2023 will include a host of live musical appearances along with a second-to-none extreme sports lineup. This year’s event schedule includes men’s and women’s competitions in Snowboard Slopestyle, Special Olympics Unified Snowboarding and Skiing, Ski Big Air, Ski Knuckle Huck, Ski Slopestyle, Snowboard SuperPipe, Ski SuperPipe, Snowboard Big Air and Snowboard Knuckle Huck.
More than 100 athletes from all over the world will be competing in Aspen, including China’s freestyle skier Eileen Gu, New Zealand’s snowboarder Zoi Sadowski-Synnott, the United State’s slopestyle and big air specialist Alex Hall, Australia’s snowboarder Scotty James and
Norway’s snowboarder Marcus Kleveland.
