Last night, the Rockies, true to form, blew up in the ninth inning and allowed the Pittsburgh Pirates to waltz to a playoff-clinching 13-7 victory. Then, as suggested by Deadspin, they proceeded to essentially “P” down their leg.
That seventh run for Colorado (yay tacos!), by the way, would have been the game-tying run in the bottom of the ninth if John Axford and Jason Gurka (whom Root Sports analyst George Frazier perhaps appropriately mis-pronounced as “Jerk-uh”) hadn’t gone full-blown dumpster fire in the top of the ninth, allowing six runs to put the game completely out of reach.
But that didn’t happen and the Rockies clubhouse staff could get to work putting forth what Deadspin first identified as a gesture that proves the organization has no pride. (Or perhaps, no shame?)
Pirates clubhouse manager Scott Bonnett sent out this tweet last night just before the celebration in the Pittsburgh clubhouse ensued:
.@Pirates I would like to thank the Colorado Rockies and their visiting clubhouse for their great hospitality pic.twitter.com/SA0Xe41gHm

Tom Ley of Deadspin offered this take:
I get that this is “classy” or whatever, but have some pride, Rockies! You could have at least skipped arranging the flutes into a “P.” Better yet, you could have filled them with pee instead of champagne. That would have been a nice own.
Our take? We wouldn’t expect any less from the people who bring you “Dinger” and “The Rooftop.”
