WTPU: Avalanche edge out Kings with strong defensive series

The Colorado Avalanche swept the Los Angeles Kings to advance to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Game 4 was the team’s best performance with a surge of production from Nathan MacKinnon. He scored his first two goals of the postseason, one on the man-advantage.

Nicolas Roy, Cale Makar and Devon Toews contributed goals in the 5-1 final. Scott Wedgewood made 24 saves and allowed only five goals in his first four NHL postseason starts.

The Avs will play the winner of the Minnesota Wild vs. Dallas Stars series, which is tied at two-all.
