The Colorado Avalanche lost Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals and will go into Vegas down two, but the focus remains on their game.

“That’s how we approach it, focus on our process, what we need to do, and we played a great hockey game tonight, so did they, it could have gone either way …,” head coach Jared Bednar said. “You’re not giving up on your season, because all of a sudden you lost two games in the playoffs. There’s still lots of hockey to be played.”

Ross Colton was the lone goal scorer, and the Avalanche pressed hard most of the game. They fought hard for the opportunities they received but failed to score.

“We played our butts off tonight, and we didn’t win, but that doesn’t mean we can’t go play a similar game in Game 3 and win,” Bednar said. “Someone’s going to need to make a play on the offensive side, then capitalize on a chance, clean up a couple of mistakes we made tonight, but to me it’s attitude.”

Playing without Cale Makar has certainly made an impact, but the Avs need to figure out a way to win without him. It’s not that they can’t, it’s that they haven’t.
