Bold Predictions: Upsets abound and the Broncos keep clean

Why not open this weekend up with a “not-so-bold,” dog-on-it, I-hope-I’m-right prediction: No Broncos will get themselves into trouble this bye week. Now, if I’d have predicted that a year ago, we might have had to classify it as “bold.” Why? Because John Fox had little to no control over his football team. (Chicago, now that you’re finished with the Cubs and can focus on how bad your football team is, don’t you agree?) Gary Kubiak runs a much tighter ship; thus, no Broncos will get busted. Not, too bold.

Onto the boldness…

No. 3 – Jets Beat Pats

Would I bet the farm on this? Well, not my farm. But I’ll wager yours. For whatever reason, the Jets get up to play the Pats. Tom Brady and Co. have been on cruise control and something tells me that the Jets could pull a fast one this weekend. In their last three meetings, the Patriots have won two games, but only by two points and one point respectively. When the Jets won in 2013, they won by three. The net from those three games? Zero. Jets win a close one, go ahead and bet your farm.

No. 2 – Royals Blow Out Blue Jays

I’m speaking of Game 6 only, which will play out Friday at 6 p.m. The Royals are a team of destiny, and as I said last week, Jays fans will be subject to karma – bad karma (for causing a stir in the ALDS and now for taunting Johnny Cueto). Plus, if any of them are beginning to believe that Troy Tulowitzki is a clutch player, they’re about to learn a tough lesson. Tulowitzki has played great, no question, but then again, there’s no pressure in the Jays being down 0-3. Now that things are close, it’ll be pop-up city at The K in K.C.

No. 3- Buffs Beat Oregon State

Okay, so that’s not so bold. Oregon State is just 2-4 and not exactly a juggernaut. But the Buffs have lost 14 straight Pac-12 games – FOURTEEN! – and the game is in Corvallis. I could go really bold and say that Sefo Liufau won’t throw a pick, but I’m not that crazy. He will, but that’s okay. Liufau will be resilient and get the job down against the Beavers. I also like the way Colorado’s defense played against Oregon (for a half anyway). Buffs get off the schneid.
