On Tuesday, it was announced that former Colorado State linebacker Kevin Davis will be joining Hayden Hunt at the 2017 NFL Combine (Hunt’s invitation was announced Monday). The prestigious event that allows scouts and executives to evaluate the nation’s top college football players will take place Feb. 28 through March 6 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.

“I’m just grateful for another opportunity to showcase myself on a stage as big as the NFL Combine,” Davis said about the invitation.

Davis and the other linebackers are scheduled to perform on-field workouts on March 5, with parts being broadcast on NFL Network. Events include the 40-yard dash, bench press, vertical jump, broad jump, three-cone drill and shuttle run, in addition to one-on-one interviews with teams.

As the team’s leading tackler each of the past two seasons, Davis finished his career with 257 tackles and 7.0 sacks and was part of eight career turnovers. As a senior in 2016, the All-Mountain West linebacker was one of three FBS players nationally with 100-plus tackles, 3.0-plus sacks and at least one interception, fumble recovery and forced fumble. The Fountain-Fort Carson, Colo., native was part of six turnovers, including four forced fumbles (14th in FBS). His 8.5 tackles-per-game average ranked eighth in the MW, led by 19 stops vs. Colorado – the most by a MW defender in 2016.

Including Davis and Hunt, 11 former Rams will have participated in the NFL Combine in the past four years after going the previous three years without a single representative. Five of the nine former Rams who participated in the NFL Combine from 2014-16 were drafted. Additionally, three other former Rams went on to earn playing time on NFL rosters this past fall, including Cory James, who started five games as a rookie for the Oakland Raiders after being drafted in the sixth round last May.
