On Tuesday, the National Collegiate Hockey Conference announced the conference’s All-Rookie Team. Coming as no surprise, the University of Denver was the only club to have two players named, in forward Henrik Borgström and defenseman Michael Davies.
Borgström led all rookies with 12 goals and 19 points in 20 conference games. A first-round (23rd overall) selection by the Florida Panthers in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, he had 21 goals and 36 points in 30 total games for the Pioneers.
Davies had two goals and eight points in 24 NCHC games, leading all conference rookies in plus/minus at plus-17. In 36 total games, he had three goals and 11 points.
Also named to the team was North Dakota forward Tyson Jost Selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the first round (10th overall) of the 2016 NHL Draft, he was third in freshman scoring with 15 points in 18 conference games. In 28 total games, he had 14 goals and 29 points.
Also named to the team were Minnesota Duluth forward Joey Anderson, St. Cloud State defenseman Jack Ahcan (the only unanimous selection) and Western Michigan goaltender Ben Blacker.
