Being the coach’s kid isn’t always easy. However, Colorado Buffaloes junior wide receiver Jay MacIntyre has broken from the stereotype.
Jay has made his own name by what he’s done on the field and the demeanor which he carries himself with. “Big Play Jay” has established himself as a key weapon for the Buffs over the last two seasons.

MacIntyre played in 25 games over 2015 and ’16, amassing 697 yards of total offense. And he’s not just a wide receiver for CU. MacIntyre was the lead punt returner for Colorado last season before injuries led to junior cornerback Isaiah Oliver taking over that role late in the year. As a part of Colorado’s spread offense, “JayMac” has also been asked to run the ball and has a completed pass to his name.
Jay only caught one pass in the 2017 Rocky Mountain Showdown, but it was a huge play. The 28-yard completion led to the Buffs best field position in the second half. Then, a Steven Montez run call on a third-and-one, followed by a punt, derailed CU’s momentum. MacIntyre’s catch was a bright spot in what was a lackluster second-half for the Colorado offense. MacIntyre said he still expects the offense to break out as long as they keep chipping away week by week.
Lindy’s College Football selected him as a preseason third-team All-Pac-12 performer as an all-purpose player.
