The Colorado Buffaloes were idle this week, but still managed to climb in both national polls. Colorado jumped up two spots in the AP Poll to No. 21 and moved up three in the Coaches Poll to No. 20. It is the third week this season the Buffs have been ranked in the top-25 in both polls.

Colorado also made gains in the Pac-12 South standings as Utah dropped a close one at home to North leader Washington, 31-24. The Utes had the ball inside Washington territory with less than a minute to play, but couldn’t get it done against the No. 4 Huskies. The Utah loss leaves Colorado alone atop the South heading into a Thursday night showdown with UCLA at Folsom Field.

Despite the loss, Utah gained in the AP Poll and remained idle in the Coaches Poll.
Most importantly, the Huskies’ win leaves Colorado’s fate in their own hands heading into the final month of the season. After UCLA, the Buffs travel to Arizona before closing the season with back-to-back home games against Washington State and Utah.
The Cougars climbed into the rankings themselves this week after a 35-31 win at Oregon State. They have won six in a row after dropping their first two games of the season.
Utah, meanwhile, remains the biggest threat to Colorado in the South. Even if both teams win out prior to their Nov. 26 regular season finale, the Utes could steal the division with a win in Boulder based on the head-to-head tiebreaker.
