Three-time Mountain West decathlon champion Josh Cogdill of the Colorado State track & field team closed his career as a Ram with Second Team All-America honors to highlight day two of the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field.

Cogdill’s honor gives the Rams a combined total of four First Team and Second Team All-Americans, which is behind only 2000 (five) for the most NCAA All-Americans in program history. Lorenda Holston (100-meter hurdles), Linnea Jonsson (hammer), Aaliyah Pete (shot put) and Hunter Price (decathlon) each earned Honorable Mention All-America honors. When including Honorable Mention All-Americans, the Rams have a total of eight outdoor All-Americans, which is the most in program history. In addition, Janelle Lincks qualified for the finals of the 3,000-meter steeplechase, which is set for Saturday.

Cogdill entered the day 20th in the decathlon, but used top-10 finishes in three of the final events to surge to 16th place. Cogdill opened with a seventh-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 14.62. Cogdill’s best event of the day was the javelin throw, as he placed top-five with a mark of 194-0 (59.15m). The senior closed the day with a ninth-place finish in the 1,500 meters (4:42.15) to seal 16th place and Second Team All-America status.

Price was positioned for a high finish in the decathlon, moving from 10th place through five events to eighth place through seven events. Price had cleared a personal-best 14-9.5 (4.51m) in the eighth event, the pole vault; however, an injury sustained on a pole vault attempt forced him out of the competition. The junior from Arvada, Colo., recorded a personal best in the discus (136-0/41.47m) in the previous event, and opened the day with a fifth-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles (14.53).

Lincks got her ticket punched to the finals of the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a 12th-place finish in the semifinals on Thursday. Lincks placed seventh in a fast second heat, running a program-record time of 10:00.02 to reach Saturday’s finals.

Jonsson placed 19th in her NCAA Championships debut, recording a mark of 198-3 (60.44m) in the trials of the women’s hammer. Holston closed her career at CSU with a 20th-place finish and time of 13.97 in the 100-meter hurdles, while Pete was unable to record a mark in the trials of women’s shot put competition.
