Nick Stevens among 20 QBs eligible for Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award

Colorado State senior quarterback Nick Stevens was named Wednesday as one of the Top 20 quarterbacks in the nation by the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation, Inc.

Through six games this season, Stevens ranks sixth in the nation in passing yards (1,871), 11th in passing touchdowns (14), 13th in total offense (324.3), 21st in completions per game (22.7) and 28th in passer efficiency rating (150.9).

A three-year starter, Stevens is leading a Rams offense that ranks 14th in the country in total offense (505.6 yards per game) and third in the country with a 54.1 percent third-down conversion percentage.

In two Mountain West games this season, the redshirt senior has completed 76.5 percent of his passes (40-of-53) for 644 yards and six touchdowns with no interceptions. Starting at the beginning of the second quarter at Hawai’i and ending in the first quarter at Utah State, Stevens completed 22 consecutive passes – the second-longest streak in MW history.

The Golden Arm Award is presented at the end of each season since 1987 to the nation’s top college quarterback, based on his accomplishments both on and off the field. Candidates must be a college senior or fourth-year junior on schedule to graduate with their class. These strong leaders have demonstrated a commitment to excellence and worked hard for themselves and their teams during the season and beyond.
