Behind stellar performances from George King and McKinley Wright IV, the Colorado Buffaloes (6-0) pulled away in the second half and took down the Air Force Falcons (3-2), 82-69. CU continues to pass all early-season tests as they now have five days off to prepare for their first true road game of 2017-2018.
King led the Buffs with 25 points and a career-high 15 rebounds. He has now scored 50 points in his last two games, while shooting 69% from the floor and 60% from behind the arc.
Wright registered 19 or more points for the third time in the Buffs’ six games this season, finishing with 19 points and 5 rebounds. Through six games this season, he is averaging 15.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 1.1 steals and 1 block. Wright has logged the most consecutive games in double-digits to start a career at CU since Alec Burks began with 20-straight in 2009-2010.
The Buffs trailed by just one at halftime, 34-33. Out of the locker room they used a spirited second half effort and outscored the Falcons 48-35 over the final 20 minutes to pull away.
CU next travels to Fort Collins on Saturday, December 2nd where they will take on the Colorado State Rams (3-3), in the annual hoops version of the Rocky Mountain Showdown. Tipoff is slated for 11am MST.
