Christian McCaffrey may be one of the best all-purposed football players to ever come out of Colorado, but rather than focusing on what the future holds, he prefers to stay in the present.
You’d think a runner up for the Heisman Trophy would already be focusing on the NFL, but McCaffrey doesn’t have that mindset, as he explained to the Eric Goodman and Les Shapiro on Afternoon Drive.
“It’s definitely crossed my mind,” McCaffrey said, “and when that happens you have to remind yourself what’s important. I haven’t even played a game yet my junior season. It’s not good to start looking ahead that far in the future.”
McCaffrey isn’t even thinking about what the rest of his college career might hold. With all the buzz about him being the leading candidate for the Heisman next season, McCaffrey said he’s trying to stay focused on playing for his teammates and playing for victories.
“Once you start focusing on it, and having that in the back of your mind instead of what you need to do to help the team win the game that’s when you start to tighten up and play for the wrong reasons and not play as well.”
