Right now, the Denver Broncos are the league’s underdogs. They may be 7-2, they may have the best defense in the league, but nobody outside of Denver — even within Denver — expects the Broncos to accomplish much more than a playoff defeat this season.
Well, in case you’ve missed the last century of sports history, let me remind you of one key fact: Underdogs love proving people wrong.
Just ask Holly Holm, who entered last Saturday’s fight against Ronda Rousey as a 10-to-1 underdog and won. Nobody — almost literally nobody — gave Holm a chance to unseat the UFC champion, but she did. And you could attribute her upset to a hard work ethic, natural talent, brute strength, but I think there’s another factor at play … she’s a Broncos fan.
Yep! During her appearance on the Rich Eisen show on Friday, Holm told Eisen that she’s been a proud member of Broncos Country her whole life.
“Always loved the Denver Broncos. My whole life, Bronco fan,” Holm said.

And if you think about it, there’s a pretty clear correlation: Holm is to the Broncos as Rousey is to the Patriots.
