This Privacy Policy applies to all websites owned and operated by Mile High Sports, including MileHighSports.com, DenverStiffs.com, HockeyMountainHigh.com, ColoradoPreps.com, and MileHighLife.com (collectively, the “Sites”).

Last updated: May 22, 2026. Originally effective: April 30, 2014.

Mile High Sports (“MHS,” “we,” “us”) takes your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you use the Sites, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. By using the Sites, you agree to the practices described here. This Policy does not apply to third-party websites or services we do not own or control, even where we link to them.

Information We Collect

Most of what we collect is not personally identifying. When you browse the Sites, we and our service providers collect technical and usage data through your browser and through cookies and similar technologies – including your IP address, device and browser type, operating system, the pages you view, the dates and times of your visits, referring and exit pages, and interaction events such as clicks. We use this to operate and secure the Sites, diagnose problems, analyze usage trends, and measure the performance of content and features.

We collect information that identifies you by name or email only when you choose to:

  • Register an account to comment – we collect your username and email address and store your comment history;
  • Contact us, complete a form, or subscribe to email updates – we collect the information you provide.
Third-party login

On some of our Sites you can register or log in using a third-party account, such as Facebook, in order to comment. If you do, we receive basic profile information from that provider as permitted by your settings with them, used solely to operate the comment feature. We honor data-deletion requests relayed to us by those providers in a timely manner.

How We Use Your Information

We use personal information to: provide and maintain the Sites; enable account features such as commenting; respond to your inquiries; send email communications you’ve requested; analyze and improve the Sites and their content and features; measure the performance of advertising and of the contextual betting widget; detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, security incidents, and abuse; and comply with legal obligations.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device that let our systems recognize your browser and remember information about your visit. We and our service providers use cookies and similar technologies in three broad categories:

  • Functional cookies – set by us to keep you logged in to your account and to operate the comment system. The Sites won’t work properly without these.
  • Analytics cookies – set by Google Analytics to help us understand how the Sites are used (which pages are visited, how often, by how many people). On certain article pages, the contextual betting widget described below uses a separate Google Analytics property for the same kind of measurement; those cookies have a typical lifespan of about two years and are used for widget-performance analytics only, not for advertising.
  • Advertising cookies – set by our advertising partners, including Google, to deliver and measure advertising.

You can control cookies through your browser settings – the “help” section of most browsers explains how to block or delete them – though some features of the Sites may not work properly if you do. We also honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal: if your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, and the contextual betting widget and its analytics do not load during your visit.

To opt out of personalized Google advertising specifically, see Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, Google Data & Privacy settings, and Google Ad Personalization.

Contextual Betting Widget (Sportradar / ContextBet)

On certain article pages we display a contextual sports betting widget provided by Sportradar (the “ContextBet” product). When the widget loads, it processes technical information about your visit – the page being viewed, browser and device characteristics, and interaction events such as clicks – and uses Google Analytics 4 to measure widget performance: impressions, loads, and click interactions. This data is used for analytics and performance purposes only, not for advertising.

The widget does not load on every page. It does not load on pages where you are logged in to an editorial account, it does not load on certain categories of content, and it does not load if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal.

How We Share Your Information

We do not exchange your personal information for money. We do participate in affiliate marketing: when you click certain links on the Sites – including links to sportsbooks and other partners – we may receive compensation or a commission if you sign up, place a wager, or make a purchase. That compensation is based on your click or transaction, not on the sale of your personal information.

We may share personal information in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers. We share information with vendors that perform services for us – such as hosting, analytics, comment moderation, email delivery, and security – who are permitted to use the information only to provide those services to us.
  • Analytics and contextual-content partners. We share technical and usage information (the pages viewed, browser and device characteristics, and interaction events) with Google as our analytics provider, and with Sportradar in connection with the contextual betting widget described above. This sharing is for analytics and performance measurement, not for advertising.
  • Advertising partners. Our advertising partners, including Google, may use cookies and similar technologies on the Sites to deliver and measure advertising. See “Cookies and Tracking Technologies” for opt-out options.
  • Business transfers. If MHS or substantially all of its assets are acquired, or in connection with a merger, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, user information may be among the assets transferred.
  • Legal and safety. We may disclose information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; to enforce our Terms of Service and other agreements; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of MHS, our users, or others, including for fraud prevention.
  • Syndication. MHS allows RSS syndication of its public content.
  • With your consent. We will share your personal information for other purposes with your consent or at your direction.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information. Residents of Colorado, California, and certain other U.S. states have, subject to applicable law and exceptions:

  • The right to know / access – to request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it.
  • The right to delete – to request that we delete personal information we have collected from you.
  • The right to correct – to request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
  • The right to opt out of sale, sharing, and targeted advertising.
  • The right to non-discrimination – we will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

How to exercise your rights. Email us at help@milehighsports.com and tell us which right you want to exercise. We will verify your identity before responding, so please include the name and email address associated with any account you have with us.

Opting out of “sale” / “sharing” / targeted advertising. The practical way to opt out of cookie-based advertising and analytics is to enable Global Privacy Control in your browser – which we honor – and to use Google’s opt-out tools linked in the “Cookies and Tracking Technologies” section above.

Appeals. If we decline to act on a request you have made, you may appeal by replying to our response or emailing help@milehighsports.com. If your appeal is denied, Colorado residents may contact the Colorado Attorney General at coag.gov.

Email Communications

We will not provide your email address to a third party for that party’s own marketing without your explicit permission. We may send you emails about MHS news, products, offers, surveys, or promotions; you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in those emails.

Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Sites and the features you use, to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Comment-account information is retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward unless you request deletion.

Children

The Sites are intended for users 13 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it as quickly as possible. We recommend that minors between 13 and 18 obtain a parent’s or guardian’s permission before using the Sites or sharing information online. The contextual betting widget and any betting-related content are intended only for users who are of legal age to participate in sports wagering in their jurisdiction (21 or older in Colorado).

Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission over the internet or method of storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time. Use of information we collect is subject to the Privacy Policy in effect at the time the information is used. If we make material changes, we will notify you by posting a notice on the Sites and updating the “Last updated” date above.

Deletion of Your Personal Data

To request deletion of your personal data, email help@milehighsports.com with the subject line Data Deletion Request and include your full name, the email address associated with your account, and any other information that helps us identify your records. We will verify your identity before proceeding. Deletion may take up to 30 days, and we will notify you when it is complete. (You may also exercise this right under “Your Privacy Rights” above. We also honor data-deletion requests relayed to us by third-party login providers such as Facebook.)
