Sometimes it’s amazing how much magic a ball can produce.

For Taylor and Trey Speir, whose mother suddenly passed away earlier this month, that couldn’t be more true.

Last Wednesday, the Colorado Rapids invited Taylor and Trey out to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park to meet the team, sign a one-day contract an go through a typical day as a professional soccer player.

And it was a day they’re unlikely to forget.

For two young children dealing with more tragedy than many of us can comprehend, the Rapids organization was able to bring smiles back to their faces, at least for a day. Their mother, Karen Delfs, was an integral part in their love for the game of soccer, as she served as an assistant coach on Taylor’s undefeated soccer team, the Littleton Pink Panthers.

If you would like to help the Delf family, too, you can contribute to their GoFundMe account, which was created to help the family with funeral expenses and in the support of Karen’s two beautiful, talented children, Taylor and Trey.
