A clutch bat is returning to the Colorado Rockies lineup on Friday, and it comes at a badly needed time.
The Rockies announced that they have reinstated outfielder Gerardo Parra from the disabled list and have optioned outfielder Mike Tauchman to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Parra will start in left field against the Chicago White Sox. It will be Parra’s first MLB action since June 6.

Parra, who was placed on the 10-day disabled list June 7 with a right quad strain, is batting .318 (47-for-148) with 23 runs, six doubles, six home runs, 28 RBI and six walks in 49 games this season.
Over his last 20 games prior to being placed on the disabled list, Parra was batting .396 (21-for-53) with four doubles, three home runs and 15 RBI.
Parra will be a welcome addition to a Rockies lineup that has hit just .230 over the team’s last 15 games. The Rockies are 3-12 in those games.
The left-handed hitting Parra has been especially clutch with runners in scoring position this year. Parra is batting .432 (16-for-37) this year with RISP.
During Colorado’s recent slide, the club has left 97 runners on base – an average of 6.5 per game.
