For the first time in four years, Stanley Cup Playoff hockey has returned to the Pepsi Center in Denver, and with the Avalanche down 0-2 in the series to the Nashville Predators, Altitude TV’s Peter McNab joined Eric Goodman and Les Shapiro of Mile High Sports AM 1340 | FM 104.7 on “Afternoon Drive” to discuss the team’s spectacular turnaround, and what they’ll need to do in order to climb back into the first-round series.
“This is a club that has 28 wins in this building; tied for the most they’ve ever had since moving to Colorado,” McNab said. “This young team; they’re really ready for this game in Colorado.”
After explaining how well the Avalanche played in a difficult environment, McNab said that the team doesn’t need to change all that much in order to get the Game 3 win. “Just play the way the way they’re playing, and hope the hockey gods can throw them a little something,” he said. “They scored five goals against St. Louis in their last home game; they scored six in the two games in Nashville — and that is an awful place to try and score… Now, you’re coming back [home], so if [goalie Jonathan] Bernier and the defensemen — and the whole defensive system — can stop Nashville at two [goals], I think the Avalanche have enough offense, with the power play getting going and all of this stuff, to get past them [Monday].”
