Megna will likely play on Wednesday after Colin Wilson was injured during practice

After seeing their forward depth tested with injuries over the last couple of the days, the Avalanche have recalled forward Jayson Megna from the Colorado Eagles of the American Hockey League, it was announced on Tuesday.

Megna, 29, was one of the last players cut from the Avalanche’s training camp after having a memorable showing during the preseason.

Prior to practice on Tuesday, the Avs announced that captain Gabe Landeskog will miss significant time with a lower-body injury. He is listed as out indefinitely, joining Mikko Rantanen who remains week-to-week as he continues to receive treatment on a lower-body injury of his own.

During practice, forward Colin Wilson left the ice with an injury. Avs coach Jared Bednar said that Wilson “tweaked something” and will be out on Wednesday.

With the sudden rash of injuries to its forward lineup, the Avs were forced to use a defenseman, Ryan Graves, as a forward for the remainder of practice before Bednar announced that a call up is likely.

Megna will likely draw into the lineup on Wednesday, as Colorado is set to continue its homestand against the Florida Panthers.
