Avalanche vs. Kings Betting Preview

The Avalanche narrowly escaped with a 3-2 victory on Tuesday night against the Kings. After jumping out to a quick 1-0 lead thanks to winger Brandon Saad and adding a pair of power-play tallies in the second, Los Angeles woke up late in the third period. The Kings scored two goals and generated several more chances, only to be turned away by Avalanche goalie Philipp Grubauer, who made 18 saves for the win.

Colorado scorer Nathan MacKinnon picked up two assists to bring him to 500 career points, moving him to seventh in franchise history.

Avalanche vs. Kings Odds

Here are the lines for Avalanche vs. Kings at DraftKings Colorado:

  • Spread: Avalanche (-1.5 +100); Kings (+1.5 -120)
  • Moneyline: Avalanche (-280); Kings (+230)
  • Over/Under: Over 5.5 (-120)/Under 5.5 (+100)

Bets We Like With a Avalanche Win

Brandon Saad to Score a Goal Anytime (+275, DraftKings)

The newly acquired winger, who comes to Colorado after a pair of stints with Chicago and time in Columbus, has a ton of skill to go along with his size, but he’s had a tough time finishing plays with the puck in the back of the net over the years. Even after scoring 20+ goals in five of his last six seasons, those who have watched him the last two years in Chicago know that he had enough chances to be a consistent 30+ or 40+ goal scorer.

It’s a good sign to see him break the ice with a goal early last game. At a solid underdog +275 price, I like for the 28-year old veteran to get another goal in this contest.

Bets We Like With a Kings Win

Dustin Brown to Score a Goal Anytime (+325, DraftKings)

The Kings’ veteran center fired off three shots on Tuesday night, earning an assist in the contest. He’s still a big fixture on the top scoring line and the power-play, and at this price, backing him to net a goal is good value.

In 56 career outings versus Colorado, Brown has scored 16 goals and added 22 assists on the score sheet.

Bets We Like Independent of the Outcome

Goal Scored in the First 10 Minutes of Play (Yes -139, DraftKings)

The Colorado Avalanche have been making it a point each night to score early in contests, and they’ve made good on that goal so far, netting a goal well within the first 10 minutes of play in all three games.

While some sportsbooks might also offer a prop for first to score in five minutes, with a plus price attached to “yes,” play it safe here with the 10 minute range as a still reasonably priced favorite.

Avalanche vs. Kings Prediction

The puck has not bounced the Kings’ way much over their first three contests, games featuring two blown leads in consecutive third periods and a failed comeback attempt on Tuesday. I don’t think things get any better on Thursday night. Colorado is the superior club in this match-up and I like them to get the win by a 4-2 final.
