Thursday morning, the NHL announced its full regular season schedule. The Colorado Avalanche is set to open at the Pepsi Center with three straight home games beginning Thursday, Oct. 8 against the Minnesota Wild.

The three game homestand matches the franchise’s longest-ever to begin a season in its 20 year history, as the 1998-99 squad also opened with three straight at home. It also marks the second consecutive year Colorado has seen a team in back-to-back season openers since facing the Dallas Stars in 2006-07 and 2007-08.

The Avs will play 41 home games, which is highlighted by the Coors Light NHL stadium series game at Coors Field. The game will be Colorado’s first ever outdoor game, played against historical rival Detroit Red Wings Feb. 27.

Colorado will also host its third straight New Years Eve game welcoming in the Stanley Cup Champions in the Chicago Blackhawks Dec. 31.

The Avalanche will have a seven-game road trip from Nov. 10-23, equaling the club’s longest journey since the franchise moved to Denver.  The Avs also had a seven-game trip from Oct. 8-21, 2009.

The home club will conclude the 2015-16 schedule at the Pepsi Center on Saturday, April 9 against Anaheim.
