With the way the word “meltdown” was being tossed around on Thursday night, you’d have thought the Pepsi Center was turned from a skating rink into a fishing pond.
After surrendering four goals and the lead in 5:07 to the Minnesota Wild in the third period, a series of blows from which they would not recover, Colorado desperately needed to prove on Saturday night that they can close out a game.
They responded against Dallas, winning the final period and the game by a three-goal margin. Down 3-1 at one point the in the game, it was a comeback that head coach Patrick Roy said his team needed to show they had in them.
Following the game, Patrick Roy said his team showed “a lot of character.”
He’s been particularly happy with the play of John Mitchell and Cody McLeod, saying he’s not afraid to play those two against other teams’ top lines, which he did again against Dallas.
