Welcome to the weekly stock report for the Colorado Avalanche. Each Wednesday, we’ll take a look at three players who have improved their stock in the organization the previous week, and three players whose stock has fallen.

Let’s take a look at the biggest movers and shakers as the Avs return from their successful road trip.

Three up

  1. W Gabriel Landeskog – Named the NHL’s First Star of he week, the captain helped lead the team on their four-game road trip, scoring seven goals along the way. While seemingly all of them were important, his hat trick against New Jersey on Thursday set the tone for the rest of the trip, in which they picked up seven of a possible eight points.
  2. G Philipp Grubauer – After a tough first start, in which he didn’t get a lot of help, Grubauer picked up his first two victories as a member of the Avs. While he played well against New Jersey, his career-high 42 save performance against Carolina gave Avs fans a glimpse of what he’s capable of in net.
  3. W Mikko Rantanen – How can we forget the NHL’s leading scorer? With eight points on the four-game road trip, Rantanen shot up to the leaderboard in scoring among all players, and looks like he’s taking a big step towards becoming an elite NHL player.

Three down

  1. C Tyson Jost – After a strong start to the year, Jost has slowed down significantly, and was demoted to the team’s fourth line prior to their game against Philadelphia. Jost has yet to register an even-strength point, and the slow start to the year offensively has to be disappointing, considering how much the team was banking on him to help the secondary scoring.
  2. W Colin Wilson – After picking up three goals in his first four games, Wilson has now gone five games without a point, and has only registered five shots on goal in those games. Wilson is looking for a bounce-back year to not only help the Avs, but himself, as he will be an unrestricted free agent after this season.
  3. C/W Alexander Kerfoot – Noticing a trend? After five points in his first four games, Kerfoot has just one assist in his last five and has started to pass up too many shots again to look for the perfect play. After starting the year with a new “shoot first” mentality, you don’t want him to fall back into old habits of over-passing the puck.
