Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield is flashing on the radar of every NFL team that needs a quarterback — and the Denver Broncos are most certainly one of those.
The fiery Oklahoma signal-caller has fans salivating over the possibilities of seeing him wear Broncos orange, and in an interview with Eric Goodman and Les Shapiro of Mile High Sports AM 1340 | FM 104.7, Ryan Aber of The Oklahoman explained why Mayfield’s intangibles make him a perfect candidate.
“If I’m just going off of physical attributes, I think I’d probably go with [USC’s Sam] Darnold, [UCLA’s Josh] Rosen, and Baker Mayfield,” Aber said. “But having seen Baker Mayfield and what he does, and gotten a feel for what kind of player this kid is, it’s hard for me to pick anybody in this class over him now.”
Aber explained that it was Mayfield’s consistent improvement that won him over. “I thought, going into this year, that I wasn’t sure about his NFL future and how good he would be at the next level, but the way that he has improved steadily from the time that he arrived here in Norman — after a season at Texas Tech — to the end of this year has just been incredible. I think more now, that he is not only going to be a high draft pick, but have a chance at some real success in the NFL.”
