The Denver Broncos have a new challenge ahead of them in their future as ownership conversation was sparked today when a story released by Nicki Jhabvala of the Athletic with conversation from Beth Bowlen Wallace, one of the daughters of Pat Bowlen, spoke about her strong interest in taking over as controlling owner of the Denver Broncos.
Bowlen, who recently graduated from the University of Denver’s Sturm College of Law in 2016, also received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado of Law prior to that.
Speaking with Eric Goodman and Shawn Drotar of Mile High Sports AM 1340 | FM 104.7 on Thursday about the Bowlen ownership situation, Jhabvala joined the guys saying she’s not surprised Bowlen has interest in control of the Broncos and this has been brewing for quite some time.
“I know Beth Bowlen has been thinking about this and wanting to do this for quite some time,” Jhabvala said.
“In fact, she went to law school for the sole intent to be considered for controlling owner — something they spell out in the criteria that was sent out to the seven children as well as Annabel that to be considered, you have to have an advanced business related degree, whether that’s a MBA or a JD.”
Jhabvala was asked about the response that the trustees released shortly after hearing the news of Bowlen’s interest in owning the team, including a part of the statement released Thursday stating “we have thoroughly evaluated whether Beth is capable of succeeding her father as controlling owner. We have determined that she is not capable or qualified at this time.”
“I was not surprised from the response from the trustees,” Jhabvala said. “It’s unfortunate kind of turned a little personal. It looks like this could get ugly before it ends and it doesn’t seem like this will end anytime soon.”
