Prior to their meeting with the New York Jets on Sunday, Broncos offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave addressed the media and explained the unfortunate realities of play-calling when his team is playing catch-up, like they have for the last eight games.
“I don’t think we ever intend to abandon anything. We want to be balanced,” Musgrave said. In last week’s 35-9 loss to Miami, the Broncos called 41 passes, but only 23 runs; a necessity after the team trailed. “It goes by the specific game and the specific defense.”
When asked what he wanted to see on Sunday, Musgrave had an immediate response: “Overall production; fewer three-and-outs. Get into the end zone.”
