Newly acquired Blues winger Kyle Clifford sealed the contest with a goal midway through the third period. One key absence in tonight’s lineup for St. Louis will be forward Sammy Blais, who will miss the next two games for the Blues due to suspension from the league after an illegal check to the head of Avalanche defenseman Devon Toews in the first period of Wednesday’s game.

Toews did eventually return to the game, and Colorado scored on the ensuing power play that resulted from the two-minute penalty assessed. That play won’t be lost on this Avalanche lineup, which could result in some scrappy play tonight between these long-standing division rivals.

There won’t be much love lost between these two clubs, especially with some of the aggressive play we saw at times two nights ago, headlined by the Sammy Blais hit on Devon Toews.
