Bo Nix earned his third award of the week it was announced on Thursday morning. This time, he’s celebrating a second straight Rookie of the Week award.

Nix has been on fire lately and his trophy case is growing full. Which may be surprising considering he’s merely a rookie for the Denver Broncos.

Bo Nix earned his third award of the week after a record-setting performance

Nix won Rookie of the Week for a second straight superb Sunday performance.

Rewind to last week, and he took home the award for a great game against the Kansas City Chiefs, despite the loss.

This week was something even more special, though.

Nix was a major reason why the Broncos blew out the Falcons 38-6, which was the highest score since Sean Payton took over as head coach in 2023. The rookie quarterback went 28-33 (84.9%) for 307 yards and four touchdowns. All of those numbers were career-highs. But more than that, Nix set an NFL record as the only rookie quarterback to throw for 300-plus yards, 4 TDs, and complete more than 80% of his passes in a single game.

Even more: His 145.0 passer rating was the second-highest in Broncos history, with only one game from Peyton Manning (146.0). That means Nix just had a higher-rated game than John Elway ever did in his 15-year career with the Broncos.

That’s when the awards started rolling in.

First, Nix won Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday morning. Then, it was the FedEx Air & Ground Player of the week.

And now, Rookie of the Week as well.

Add in his NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month from October, and the trophy case is getting full.

Meanwhile Bo Nix could win Offensive Rookie of the Year. He moved from +1400 odds two weeks ago to +400, in second behind Jayden Daniels (-550).

As we enter Week 12, with the Broncos at 6-5 and in seventh in the AFC, Nix is no longer just a Denver die-hard’s hope as “the guy” he is “him.”

Nix looks to lead Broncos to first playoff berth since 2015 season

First, the Broncos quarterback drought ended. Now, Denver’s eight-year playoff drought could come to a close this year, too.

That’s not only because of Nix’s great play at quarterback, but because the Broncos are winning in all three phases. The defense has been phenomenal all year long and are currently No. 3 in both points and yards allowed. They also lead in team sacks with 39.0 and Zach Allen has been an absolute monster on the line.

In fact, Denver’s in the playoffs right now because they’re winning in the trenches on both sides of the ball. And, besides the blocked field goal to lose against the Chiefs, we’ve seen improvements on special teams this year, too.

Next up, the Broncos play two weak opponents before their late, Week 14 bye. First up is the rival Raiders (2-8) in Las Vegas. Denver’s a 5.5-point favorite to win, and it seems likely they’ll cover that number with ease. Given how bad the Raiders are (29th in points allowed; 28.5 PPG), the Broncos offense could go off again. Las Vegas is middle-of-the-pack in pass defense at 11th (202.7 YPG), so it’ll be interesting if Nix can continue his hot streak this week.

Then, Denver hosts the Cleveland Browns (2-8) on Monday Night Football. The Browns are a bit better on defense, but still have given up 14 passing touchdowns compared to only 2 interceptions.
