The Broncos face off against the Colts this Sunday, and since 2013, that’s been a tough matchup for Denver, as they’ve gone 1-3 in four games.

Behind Andrew Luck, the Indianapolis offense can be as explosive as any

“They definitely bring a big challenge. They have a lot of wideouts,” Roby told Afternoon Drive on Mile High Sports. “Andrew Luck is one of the best quarterbacks in the league, and they put up a lot of points last week. We’ve lost to them the last few times we have played them, so we definitely have reasons to go out there and get the win.”

The Broncos defense have proven to perform in high pressure situations, every once in awhile there can be a breakdown that causes mistakes. When opposing offenses score, the Denver defense sees it as a failure on their part, not a success of the offense.

“Anytime we don’t play well, and most of the time it’s because of our own mistakes, we need to get on top of our stuff — doing the right things,” Roby said. “It’s really about us, not about them. That’s how we see every team no matter who we play. If we do what we’re supposed to do, then it doesn’t matter how they play.”

Luck has proven to be one of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL and continues to put up big numbers week after week. This Denver defense knows what needs to be done on Sunday to control this somewhat predictable quarterback.

“You’ve got to get to the quarterback. He’s a guy that holds the ball a long time,” Roby said. “He has a big frame and he’s sturdy, so he’s not afraid to get hit. They run deeper routes so he waits for the last minute for them to get open. You have to cover longer on the back end and the d-line has to get there and hurry him. If you don’t put any pressure on him, he can sit back and just dissect the zone.”

The last time Luck faced the Broncos he was injured from a monster hit from ex-Bronco, Danny Trevathan. He suffered a lacerated kidney and a partially torn abdominal muscle, missing the remainder of the season, something that may be in the back of his mind during the game this weekend.

“I think he definitely has some fear,” Roby said. “That’s just human nature, you know? If you see how we play and you remember what happened last time he got hurt and he didn’t get to finish the season. It will be in the back of his head. He doesn’t look forward to playing us. He is going to be motivated especially with us putting him out for the season last year, to come out and beat us again.”
