On the morning of Denver Nuggets Media Day, the Altitude TV surprised Nuggets fans with a new opportunity to watch the team this year.

Altitude TV and 9NEWS are partnering to ensure that as many Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, Air Force Falcons, and Denver University Eagles games are available to local fans. Altitude TV is turning their streaming app, Altitude+, into a direct-to-consumer streaming service for games. Every Altitude broadcast will be available to fans in the United States this year.

Altitude+ will charge $20 per month, but with it, Denver fans will get all non-national TV Nuggets, Avalanche, Air Force, and DU games,

In addition, 9NEWS (TEGNA) has purchased the carrier rights for 20 Nuggets and 20 Avalanche games to be shown over the air for free. If you don’t want to spend money on Altitude+ but still have Comcast, you can watch the following 20 Nuggets games for free on channel 9:

Josh Kroenke, vice Chairman of KSE, shared the following statement in a press release for Altitude:

“Thanks to the vision and creativity of my father and our leadership team, the hard work of many across this organization, and a tremendous partner in TEGNA, we are thrilled to deliver a comprehensive solution so that our fans can watch all Nuggets and Avs games this season and beyond.

“As we embark on the 25th season of Ball Arena and not only celebrate the past but look toward the future, it is fitting that we introduce the next evolution of our Altitude Sports network that includes Altitude+ and games on 9NEWS and My20. Thanks to this innovative model, our fans can be with us every step of the way this season in our quest to bring both the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy and the Stanley Cup back to Denver.”

In the press release, it’s also included that: “The Altitude Sports network will continue to carry local games for subscribers of DIRECTVDIRECTV STREAMFubo, and Spectrum TV.” So, if you have any of those platforms already, you’re still getting them.

Now, Altitude has added a deal with 9NEWS to the mix and is broadcasting every non-national game on Altitude+. While the pricing isn’t perfect for the platform ($20 per month is a lot of money) it’s another option for those that are interested in a direct-to-consumer option and are hoping to cut the cord on cable.

Hopefully, the app that Altitude puts together to maintain streams can handle things well without crashing or buffering. If it’s a good product, it’s worth investing for consumers and a good job by Altitude and KSE to provide as many solutions as possible to the Comcast carriage dispute.
