The NFL will be releasing their 2016 schedule tonight at 6:00, but apparently the three-hour-long special to be held on NFL Network wasn’t enough of a reason to keep the secret hidden any longer.
According to Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer, the NFL season will open up with a Super Bowl rematch on Thursday Night.
Behind Cam Newton, the Carolina Panthers will be looking for revenge when they take on the Denver Broncos in Week 1, and they’ll be up for the task. Coming off a 15-1 season and an MVP performance from Newton, the Panthers look to be just as good as they were in 2015, if not better.
The Broncos, on the other hand, are a major question mark. With Peyton Manning now retired, and with Brock Osweiler now in Houston, nearly every available and semi-available quarterback in the NFL has been rumored to be the reigning champ’s next signal caller.
As of now, though, it’s still good ol’ Mark Sanchez.
Either way, this looks to be one of the most exciting opening matchups in a long time.
