The Denver Broncos are trading Trevor Siemian to the Minnesota Vikings, as first reported by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the deal will send Siemian and a late-round 2018 draft pick for an undetermined 2019 draft pick from Minnesota. KUSA later filled in the details, saying it will be a seventh-round pick to Minnesota in 2018 and a fifth-round pick to the Broncos in 2019. Denver held pick No. 225 overall in the seventh round this year.
Siemian, whose name was mentioned often in trade rumors this offseason, threw for 2,285 yards and 12 touchdowns, but also with 14 interceptions, in 2017 while sharing quarterback duties with Paxton Lynch and Brock Osweiler.
James Palmer of the NFL Network stated that many around the league believe Siemian brings a lot of value, he was simply the odd-man out of a crowded quarterback room in Denver, who on Wednesday officially added Case Keenum as the presumed starter.
Lynch, Denver’s 2016 first-round draft pick, remains on the roster.
Siemian finishes his three years with the Broncos after being drafted 250th overall in the 2015 draft. Siemian started 24 games for Denver, finishing with a 13-11 record, completing 59 percent of his passes and throwing 30 touchdowns to 24 interceptions in his first three years with Denver.
