To nobody’s surprise, Mike MacIntyre has been named the Pac-12 Coach of the Year.
Patience pays off.
It has been a remarkable turnaround for Coach MacIntyre and the Colorado Buffaloes.
After taking over for an 1-11 Buffs team in 2013, MacIntyre and CU failed to win more than four games in each of his first three years. Understandably, his job was on the line this season if he didn’t deliver.
He did.
The Buffaloes currently sit at 10-2 and are about to take on Washington for the Pac-12 Championship. A win there, and the Buffs will have had their first 11-win season since Bill McCartney was the coach. Tack on a bowl win and Colorado could have its first 12-win season in program history.
MacIntyre deserves all the credit in the world, and don’t be surprised if this isn’t the last award he receives this season.
