Since the Rockies signed outfielder Gerardo Parra earlier this month, the Colorado Rockies have been a little too quiet for most fans’ liking.
The Rockies already had a stacked outfield, but with the signing of Parra, it looked to be bursting at the seams. From the moment the move was made, the expectation was that it was only a preamble to the main verse: A Carlos Gonzalez trade.
Apparently, though, that’s not the move the Rockies had in mind, at least not yet.

#Rays trading Jake McGee to #Rockies for Dickerson. Minor leaguers involved
— Joel Sherman (@Joelsherman1) January 28, 2016
Jake McGee, a 6-foot-3, left-handed reliever from Tampa, may not be the big-name starter Rockies fans were looking for, but his addition in the bullpen could pay big dividends. Six years and 297 games into his career, McGee has yet to make a start in the MLB, though he does have 26 career saves to his name.
Last year, in 39 appearances, McGee finished with an ERA of 2.41 (his career ERA is 2.77), six saves and one win.
As far as the minor-league arms involved in the trade, they have yet to be named. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
