With the NFL Draft fast approaching, the 2019 season will be here before we know it.
On Monday, the league announced the complete schedule for each team’s offseason workout program – with the Denver Broncos officially starting on April 2. Denver’s voluntary minicamp will then take place from Apr. 16-18 and OTAs will be roughly one month later, starting on May 13. Mandatory minicamp for all players will run from June 4-6.
According to the NFL, volunteer offseason workout programs are intended to provide training, teaching and physical conditioning. As per Article 21 of the collective bargaining agreement, each club’s official, voluntary nine-week offseason program is three phases.
During Phase One, activities are limited to strength and conditioning, as well as physical rehabilitation over the first two weeks.
In Phase Two, on-field workouts may include individual instruction and drills. However, no live contact or team offense vs. team defense is permitted.
Finally, in Stage Three, teams may conduct a total of 10 days of organized team activity. No live contact is permitted, but teams are allowed to use 7-on-7, 9-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills.
