Denver Broncos cornerback Riley Moss’ return to the field was highly anticipated. After suffering a knee injury that has kept him sidelined since Week 12, Moss made his return to the Broncos’ secondary against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Unfortunately for Moss, his return was a bit of a tough one, as he was picked on by Joe Burrow and the Bengals offense for the majority of the game. Moss was mostly matched up with Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins, who had seven catches for 101 yards and two touchdowns against the Broncos’ cornerback. The Bengals’ game-winning reception, which Higgins caught, was also scored on Moss. Higgins would finish the game with 11 receptions for 131 yards and three touchdowns.

“Sometimes you eat a s*** sandwich and you have to own it,” said Moss postgame, owning up to his rough outing.

Moss seemed to be a step or two behind who he was covering on the Bengals offense and looked rather rusty. Despite his struggles, Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph decided to keep him in the game.

“I felt some breaks were a little slow and stuff like that takes time,” said Moss. “But they trusted me to make plays and I didn’t make them.”

With only one game remaining in the season, and it being arguably the most important one, Moss understands there is no time to mope around. He’s ready to get back on the field and show the Broncos he can bounce back.

“This isn’t the first time that’s happened in my career, and it’s probably not going to be the last,” Moss said about his poor outing. “The great ones are able to come back and be gritty and push through. And that’s what I’m going to do.”

Up next, the Broncos are set to face the Kansas City Chiefs. This is a make-or-break game, as the Broncos control their own destiny for the playoffs. All they have to do is win one more game, and they’ll clinch a playoff spot. While the Chiefs will mostly be playing their backups, Moss and the Broncos know they cannot overlook this game.

“There’s no pressure. We should go about this like we’ve got nothing to lose, play free like we were doing when we went on our little win streak. I’m excited,” said Moss.”I think we’ve got a great group of guys that can handle adversity. This one hurts. You put so much time and effort into the season, and to go out like that, it sucks, but again, to look glass half full, we have a whole other opportunity next week and we’ve got to be ready to roll.”
