The Denver Broncos will be without left guard Max Garcia for the remainder of the season. According to Troy Renck of Denver7 News, Garcia experienced pain in practice and an evaluation revealed that the fourth-year pro has a torn ACL. Mike Klis later confirmed that an MRI revealed structural damage in Garcia’s knee.
The Broncos are already thin on the offensive line after losing Matt Paradis for the season with a broken fibula. So with Connor McGovern currently playing center, Billy Turner is anticipated to step in at right guard.
Losing Garcia will be a big blow for the Broncos on Sunday. The Los Angeles Chargers are averaging 3.3 sacks per game over its last four victories, and currently ranks in the top-10 for opposing QBR in 2018.
If the Chargers dominate the line of scrimmage, the Broncos are going to have a difficult time establishing the run game, and as we have seen this season, Denver is not a good football team when it has to rely on its passing offense. Denver’s only win in the last seven games was against Arizona. In that victory over the Cardinals, Case Keenum finished with a season-low 21 pass attempts.
