There is no name more synonymous with Denver and the Denver Broncos than John Elway. Ask someone in Tokyo, Broncos historian Jim Saccomano cites for example, and the name they’ll associate with Denver is “Elway.”
But Saccomano himself has ties that run just as deep with the Broncos, perhaps even deeper, as Elway’s. He was the PR executive who introduced Elway to the NFL in 1983, a story he shared with Danny Williams and Ryan Edwards at Broncos training camp on Wednesday.
Ties that run deep was the theme of their conversation as Saccomano spoke in some depth about the special relationship between Elway and his father, Jack, a longtime college coach and scout for the Broncos.
