The Denver Broncos (5-6) will have an advantage at the quarterback position in Sunday’s crucial contest against the Cincinnati Bengals (5-6).
With Andy Dalton out for the year with a thumb injury, the Bengals will be playing with backup quarterback Jeff Driskel under center. Driskel, a 25-year old rookie out of Louisiana Tech has made four appearances for the Bengals this season, but has zero NFL starts to his name.
In a 15-point loss to the Browns on Nov. 25, Driskel completed 17-of-29 pass attempts for 155 yards and one touchdown after Dalton was unable to finish the game and was replaced by the rookie.
Although the young quarterback handled relief duties fairly well, Denver’s defensive players are likely excited to face Driskel after having to face four of the top-15 quarterbacks in the NFL over the last month.
Despite only going .500 in its last six games, the Broncos have recorded 22 sacks since Oct. 14. And in the last two weeks, Denver is +6 in turnover margin. If the Broncos can match that pressure against Driskel and force him to make quick decisions with the football, Denver is going to have an excellent chance at coming away with a road victory.
