The Denver Broncos know that they need to be better on offense. As such, they began to clean house when it comes to their offensive coaching staff on Friday.
After parting with several coaches earlier in the day, the Broncos relieved quarterbacks coach/passing game coordinator Greg Knapp of his duties Friday afternoon. Knapp had served in the position since 2013.
Under Knapp, the Broncos had the 21st ranked passing attack in the league last season, averaging 230.3 yards per game through the air. During Knapp’s tenure, quarterback Peyton Manning led the Broncos’ record-setting offense in 2013. He coached in two of the past three Super Bowls.
Though nothing is official yet, Knapp is widely expected to be replaced as quarterbacks coach by former Oakland Raiders offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave. Coincidentally, Knapp was also the Raiders OC the season before joining the Broncos.
The Broncos also retained wide receivers coach Tyke Tolbert, who rejected an offer from the Tennessee Titans to remain in Denver.
