It’s the NFL’s 100th anniversary, and while the Denver Broncos have left a lot to be desired on the football field this year, there have been some bright spots.
One of the brightest stars in the history of the Broncos has been Von Miller, a three-time All-Pro, seven-time Pro Bowler, Defensive Rookie of the Year and Super Bowl MVP.
Miller’s resume is so stacked, in fact, that the leagued named him as a finalist to their NFL 100 All-Time Team.
Who will make the cut? According to NFL Communications, there are 33 defensive lineman finalists and 26 linebacker finalists; 14 lineman and 12 linebackers will make the cut. Breaking it down even further, there will be seven defensive ends and seven tackles, six middle linebackers and six outside backers.
Miller is one of only three players on the list of 59 to be currently active; J.J. Watt and Luke Kuechly are the others.
Ever since being drafted No. 2 overall in 2011, Von Miller has been not only the best defender on the Broncos this decade, he’s cemented himself as the greatest defender in Denver’s fabled history.
Besides all of those previously mentioned accolades, Miller just racked up the 104th sack of his career and on the 51st quarterback, Josh Allen. Last year, he passed Simon Fletcher as the greatest sack man in Broncos history as Fletcher finished his career with 97.5 QB takedowns.
Before this season, Miller put together a streak of eight straight seasons with a 90-plus grade by Pro Football Focus, although this year’s 76.7 grade has left a little to be desired. His seven sack total is less than most are used to, but he has a chance to hit double digits with four sacks over the last three games.
The list of defensive linemen and linebackers to make the All-Time Team will be announced on Episode 2 of NFL 100 All-Time Team which premieres on Friday, Nov. 29 at 6 p.m. MT.
Denver (3-8) faces the Los Angeles Chargers (4-7) this Sunday at 2:25 p.m. MT at Empower Field at Mile High Stadium.
