The long snapper is one of the least-heralded positions in football, but it’s also one that carries some of the highest consequences. One off-target snap, and suddenly the entire fanbase learns your name, and not in a good way.
But who are these guys? How do they mold a career out of throwing a ball between their legs? Well, for Casey Kreiter, the Broncos newest addition, it’s by teaching science at a local high school … or something like that.

Kreiter played for the Iowa Hawkeyes, where he was the special-teams captain and full-time long snapper. After going undrafted in 2014, he spent time with the Dallas Cowboys during each of the last two training camps, but never made it to the final roster.
This year, though, with no other long snapper in the building, Kreiter looks to have a clear path towards the Broncos’ starting job. Let’s just hope his students don’t take his departure to hard.
